Blogging - the Myth the Legend
It has been a recurrent event for me when I converse with individuals about websites, blog, traffic and making money. I believe that there is a widespread misconception about how to make money from websites. Thus I make this publication, Blogging - the Myth the Legend, to demystify the business of websites and the art of blogging.
Most individuals see the internet as some quick money making venture and as such they believe with a blog they are on their way to their millions. How naive.
Firstly, money does not flow in automatically once you have successfully setup a blog.
The major source of income to bloggers is Advert placement.
Money is sourced from ADs placed either via google ADs or Ads sourced freelance.
The question then is why should someone post ADs on your blog?
Who will read the ADs?
How many people will read the ADs?
This is just similar to the billboards on major and minor roads. Posters and billboards are placed at strategic positions such that motorists and commuters who ply the road get informed about what ever information the advert placed is conveying. More Busy roads tend to have more ADs. In the same vain more busy sites with visitors have a higher chance of having more ADs placed on them.
So, How can one make his blog a strategic position such that ones blog will be able to attract a lot of ADs?
First and foremost
You have to know that blogging is hard work. You have to work at the stories or
information you want to blog about.
How valuable is the information you are dispersing and what content has it?
You also would have to keep posting info on your blog to feed viewers.
You have to check to know if your desired audience are your actual audience, what post was read, how much of your vistors read the post.
Stats.
Basically you need stats about your blog to form a feed back loop. You are posting stuffs online to the whole world even though you may have a desired or target audience the internet brings everyone together. You need to know what your viewers whose attention you have captured are interested in.
Money.
Yes that is what it is all about but even if you have a thousand hits per second who cares. Some folks who are tech savvy may know but you just aren't the only one there with such level of success. So you need some form of marketing strategy to let people know that your site can handle their ADs.
Google ADs.
Get an account with google and hopefuly a few bucks may come in but that isn't going to pay all your bills.
You need to meet firms, remember you are just starting people may not know you much if you have been in biz of blogging people still need to know you to pay you.
So meet large firms and seek funds for advert placement. Firms will pay you for ads to be placed on your site. Also seek for sponsorship.
So, you will work to post stuffs online and you will work to get people to pay you for what you have posted.
Though the begining may be small over a while it will pay provided you keep working at it.
So there is no automatic cash flow that comes with owning a blog. Even the big guys out there pay a lot in effort and money to remain at the top.
It works but it isn't that easy period.
